BATTLE OF NEW ORLEANS

(C)In 1814 (F)we took a little trip,
(G7)Along with Colonel Jackson (C)down the mighty mississip'.
We took a little bac(F)on and we took a little beans
And (G7)we caught the bloody (C)British in a town in New Orleans.

Chorus:
We fired our guns and the British kept a comin'
There wasn't as (G7)many as (C)there was a while ago.
We fired once more and they began to runnin'
On down the Missi(G7)ssippi to the(C) gulf of Mexico.

We (C)looked down the river and we (F)see'd the British come
And there (G7)musta been a hundred of 'em (C)beatin' on the drum
They stepped so high and they (F)made their bugles ring'
We (G7)stood beside our cotton bales and (C)didn't say a thing.

Chorus.

Old Hickory said we could (F)take 'em by surprise
If we (G7)didn't fire a musket 'till we (C)looked 'em in the eyes.
We held our fire 'till we (F)see'd their faces well
Then we (G7)opened up with squirrel guns and (C)really gave 'em....Well.

Chorus.
Chorus 2.
Yeah! They ran through the briars and they ran through the brambles,
And they ran through the bushes where a (G7)rabbit couldn't (C)go.
They ran so fast that the hounds couldn't catch 'em
On down the Mississippi to the (G7)Gulf of (C)Mexico.

We fired our cannon 'till the (F)barrel melted down
So we (G7)grabbed an alligator and we (C)fought another round.
We filled his head with cannonballs and (F)powdered his behind
And (G7)when we touched the powder off the (C)'gator lost his mind.

Chorus 1 the chorus 2. repeat last line.(C)

IT'S HARD TO BE HUMBLE

Chorus:
(G7)Oh, (C)Lord it's hard to be humble, when you're perfect in every (G7)way.
I can't wait to look in the mirror, cos' I get better looking each (C)day.
To know me is to love me, I (C7)must be a hell of a (F)man.
Oh, Lord it's hard to be (C)humble, but I'm(G7) doing the best that I (C)can.

I (C)used to have a girlfriend, but I guess she just couldn't comp(G7)ete
With all of those love starved women, who keep clamouring at my (C)feet.
Well I probably could find another, but I (C7)guess they're all in awe of (F)me,
Who cares I never get (C)lonesome, cause I (G7)treasure my own comp(C)any.

Chorus.

I (C)guess you can say I'm a loner, a cowboy outlaw, tough and (G7)proud,
I could have lots of friends if I wanted, but how would I stand out in a (C)crowd.
Some folks say I'm egotistical, well I(C7) don't even know what that (F)means,
I guess it has something to(C) do with the way I(G7) fill out my tight blue (C) jeans.

Chorus then repeat the last line.

FIELDS OF ATHENRY

(C)By a lonely prison wall I(F) heard a sweet voice (C)call(G)ing(C)
Michael they have (F)taken you (G)away.
For you (C)stole Travelyan's (F)corn
That your(C) babes might see the (G)morn
Now a prison ship lies waiting in the (C)bay.
CHORUS
(C)Fair (F)lie the fields of Athen(Am)ry.
Where (C)once we watched the small freebirds (G)fly.
(C)Our love grew with the (F)spring
We had (C)dreams and songs to (G)sing
As we wandered through the fields of Athen(C)ry.

(C)By a lonely prison wall I(F) heard a young man (C)call(G)ing(C)
Nothing matters (F)Jenny when your (G)free
Against the (C)famine and the (F)crown
I re(C)belled, they ran me (G)down
Now you must raise our children without(C) me.

Chorus twice,
Repeat first verse.

(C)On a windswept harbour wall
She(F) watched the last star (C)ris(G)ing.
(C)As the prison ship sailed (F)out across the (G)sky.
But she'll (C)watch and hope and (F)pray,
For her(C) love in Botany (G)Bay,
While she is lonely in the fields of Athen(C)ry.
Chorus,then repeat last line.
